Ransomware

Ransomware is malware (Malicious software) that employs encryption to hold a victim’s information at ransom. A user or organization’s critical data is encrypted so that they cannot access files, databases, or applications. A ransom is then demanded to provide access.

What to do about Ransomware

  1. Do not engage in any way shape or form with any form of threats or coercion.
  2. Context matters! If the threat is emanating from a web page, close your web browser window and clear your web browser’s cache.
  3. If the ransomware threat has locked up your entire computer, try holding down the power button on your computer to shut it off completely. Disconnect it from the Internet and power it back on again. If the threat persists, contact your computer’s tech support.
You can try searching the Web for anything you do not know how to do
